Starting at 10 a.m. we’ll have lots on sale at HTR – parishioners are invited to show up in their cars, trucks, vans, and utes to open up their trunks to sell their wares. Also, we’ll have tables already set with stuff for sale on the day. Chef Dan will be cooking something special, plus hotdogs and [...] We hope that all our followers are well and plans and preparation for the school year are moving along well. Tomorrow, we’ll be at HTR in the afternoon making garlic and oregano crisps for dipping. Can I suggest that we all bring our favourite dips?! We’ve already accepted an offer to make guacamole, so we need hummous, [...] Our next Fruit of the Spirit is ‘Gentleness’ and we’ll have the usual fab lesson and craft. Now, as for foodstuffs… since it’ll be so warm, let’s spend some time outdoors on the lawn! We’ll rely on Owen from Prairie Mill’s marvellous and award-winning bread and bring sandwich fillings for a picnic – [...] As the weather finally improves, we move on to our next Fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness. For dinner, we’ll make home-made falafels. Hummus, pita, and good ‘n’ wholesome falafel mix are coming courtesy of Clare and HTR, so we need the Messy-community to bring tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, a couple of lemons, and dessert! Yummy! Everyone’s welcome and we [...] Hope you’re all enjoying the weather and the subsequent storms that cool things off and water the grass (mine is actually green this year!). It was fabulous to have such a great turn-out last week – some returning after long absences, and other faces that grow brighter as we see them week-to-week! Hooray for MW! We’re on [...] It was really great to see so many of you last week for ‘Joy’! This week we’re on to ‘Peace’. So, instead of making bombs, we’re making flowers – this week’s craft will be creating our own seed balls for planting. Great fun and a great idea, yet again, from Ginette – our Messier-in-chief! For dins, we’ll [...] Our friend Owen over at Prairie Mill Bakery in Terwillegar came through again with beautiful loaves of bread – all donated to the cause. Toppings aplenty made sure there were no two sandwiches alike in the whole big gathering. The young and old among us learned lots about ‘Joy’ – the second fruit of the Spirit – [...] Well, after what feels like a long hiatus (plus a step forward and one-and-a-half back!), Terwillegar’s Quiet Garden is back on track. An anonymous donor (both a local community resident and a parishioner at HTR) donated some monies to get things going, and momentum has already started. An enthusiastic crew shared coffee and cinnamon buns (from [...] Tonight saw 43 people cooking, chopping, and chatting in the big warm basement at HTR – a new Messy Wednesday record. We saw lots of new faces and made lots of new friends! The build-your-own pizzas were a hit with young and old, and the craftiness of Erik was on display again as he helped the children [...] This Saturday sees the last in our year-long series of community information sessions provided for our neighbours at HTR. A local interior decorator will be talking to us about kitchen and bath renovations and answering all your questions. We will get going at 1:30 with a meal, and then move on to the presentation by about 2:15. Hope [...] |
