Chef Dan will be cooking something special, plus hotdogs and [...]]]> Starting at 10 a.m. we’ll have lots on sale at HTR – parishioners are invited to show up in their cars, trucks, vans, and utes to open up their trunks to sell their wares.  Also, we’ll have tables already set with stuff for sale on the day.

Tomorrow, we’ll be at HTR in the afternoon making garlic and oregano crisps for dipping.  Can I suggest that we all bring our favourite dips?!  We’ve already accepted an offer to make guacamole, so we need hummous, babaganoush, tzatziki, artichoke dip, spinach dip. Warm or cold – your choice!

The lesson and craft will be relaxed and will reinforce our lessons on being a steward of Creation; if it’s warm enough, we’ll go out to the quiet garden and along the front of church to see what we can find for the craft… come and see tomorrow at 4:30!

Now, as for foodstuffs… since it’ll be so warm, let’s spend some time outdoors on the lawn!  We’ll rely on Owen from Prairie Mill’s marvellous and award-winning bread and bring sandwich fillings for a picnic – bring your blankets!.  (Teddy Bears optional for adults!)  So some egg salad and the like, along with cheeses and meats would go down a treat – whatever’s your favourite!  HTR will  get the bread and make sure there are lots of yummy condiments.  Oh, and we’ll track down the croquet set, too!

We’re on [...]]]> Hope you’re all enjoying the weather and the subsequent storms that cool things off and water the grass (mine is actually green this year!).  It was fabulous to have such a great turn-out last week – some returning after long absences, and other faces that grow brighter as we see them week-to-week!  Hooray for MW!

We’re on the fourth Fruit of the Spirit tomorrow: ‘Patience’ which is always interesting to teach to young ones!  Happily, Ginette has a brilliant idea for linking it to our craft… come and see what the Messyest-in-Chief is up to!  And I bet if you ask her, you’ll get a bit of a report from her meeting with the founder of the ‘Messy’ movement who was in town over the weekend from Portsmouth, UK…?

Anyway, since it is Summer (and the weather is behaving like it) we thought we put together a variety of salads and slaws by guess and by golly.  HTR will provide sour cream, mayo, and vinegar for making homemade slaw-dressing, and we’ll pull out some of the salad dressings in the ‘fridge, too.  So, do you think you might bring things to chop, tear, shred, slice, julienne, and generally cut for our shared dins?  We will stop by and get some of Owen from Prairie Mills’ bread so that there’s at least something for the fussy eaters to chomp on.

It was really great to see so many of you last week for ‘Joy’!  This week we’re on to ‘Peace’.  So, instead of making bombs, we’re making flowers – this week’s craft will be creating our own seed balls for planting.  Great fun and a great idea, yet again, from Ginette – our Messier-in-chief!

For dins, we’ll pull the BBQ out and griddle shish kebabs.  HTR will provide skewers and the meaty bits (and the BBQ, naturally).  We need, therefore, veggies that go!  Things like grape tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers (of all colours), and whatever else you do at home.  Sounds yummmmmmmy!

The young and old among us learned lots about ‘Joy’ – the second fruit of the Spirit – [...]]]> Our friend Owen over at Prairie Mill Bakery in Terwillegar came through again with beautiful loaves of bread – all donated to the cause.  Toppings aplenty made sure there were no two sandwiches alike in the whole big gathering. 

The young and old among us learned lots about ‘Joy’ – the second fruit of the Spirit – tonight, including a song and a dance that tired me out, if not them!  *Whew*
